people always seem to try and argue that, everbody makes mistakes, these are kids who deserve second chances. when someone goes too far, they go. phil has proved that.
i also dont see how PV has drastically underperformed. pv has made the playoffs every year since 1991. lpd titles, region titles, state appearance in 04, and add 7 state titles, i have a hard time buying phil's ego has cost him a great number of games

I think you said some of it yourself, if kids don't play. A lot don't play because of him. Phil is sort of Kilmer from Varsity Blues. He thinks of Phil first, and the kids last. Again, most years, Powell Valley is going to be one of the bigger dogs around. And yes, the players deserve a crap load of credit for not giving up this year, if you want to give him credit for keeping them there, that's fine, but not to down a player, but didn't PV start winning more after they stopped trying to force a player to succeed? At least once they were off the team. That's not downing the player either, that's the coach trying his hardest to prove he knows more. That's been what Phil's issue has been at least IMO. I think it may just be to the point where he has nobody on staff that will disagree.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
there are some kids im sure that dont like phil, phil has a very large personality, it rubs some the wrong way, as with anyone.
i see your point, i do. but i feel as if pv was trying to overuse what was their biggest talent, but i also see the strategy behind it. no proven QB, relying on a great player early can help ease teh transition, maybe the second half would have been different, we will never know.
Name one player that Phil has kicked of the team himself without being ordered to?

Honestly, that is not true. What he allegedly did was against Wise Count Schools rules and VHSL rules. Before Wise County Schools adapted its rule book for what is accepted and what is not He never booted anyone off his team. The last two decisions came down from Wise County schools, this is a fact. Phil is not above rules even though you and maybe some more think he is. Sometimes he just may need a nudge in the right direction.

no one is above any rules. you obviously have something against Phil, and if i were you, i would watch what i say about people on here, ESPECIALLY if you have anything to do with PVHS.
If a kid gets expelled, yeah he is off, but i was almost sure it was a coaches/schools decision to kick a kid off the team. i may be wrong, but i dont think WCSB can kick kids off a team.
no matter what you think about Phil, he wins. The kids like him, for the most part, and he gets the best of out his kids.

You said no one tells Phil waht to do, I thought you were putting him above the rules. The coach and School plays a role in this, but the rule was put into place because some coaches and schools were not doing it when it was called for.
I do not have anyhting against Phil I am only calling it as I see it and know it.And yes you are incorrect, the Wise County school system does have the authority and right to kick athletes of of teams that violate the written code of ethics.
I am not a teacher, why would you say that? Just as you assume about me, i assume that you are blinded because you like and or support Phil. I think that is great i support all coaches in this area.
Again, can you name any player he personally decided to kick off the PV squad? I do not mind to tell you who I am because I stand behind all my statements I make. I will tell you as soon as you tell me who you are.

ok maybe there are rules now, but they must be reasonably new rules.
what is so wrong with giving HS kids a couple chances? these are young kids who make mistakes, i feel that its good that PV gives kids a chance to redeem themselves after a mistake
